Introduce of LEADER Motor - ERMs
The Eccentric Rotating Mass vibration motor, or ERM, also known as a pager motor is a DC motor with an offset (non-symmetric) mass attached to the shaft. As the ERM rotates, the centripetal force of the offset mass is asymmetric, resulting in a net centrifugal force, and this causes a displacement of the motor.
Miniature DC vibration motors are easy to integrate, enhancing user interaction with the device. For example, the visual or audio alarms may be difficult to perceive in industrial environments, these motors can provide tactile feedback. It eliminate the need for sight or high-volume alarms. This is also an advantage of the phone, as notifications can be received discreetly and without interruption when the user has the device in their pocket.
Our coin motors are tailored for handheld devices weighing between 25 and 200 grams (1 and 7 ounces). Typically DC motors up to 6mm in size are used. These motors typically operate at a nominal voltage of 3V, making them ideal for battery-powered applications. They are compatible with a variety of power sources, including alkaline, zinc, silver oxide, single-cell lithium primary batteries, as well as NiCd, NiMH, and Li-ion rechargeable batteries, making them suitable for a variety of power options.
ERM Vibration Motor Advice
The ERM is a widely popular base design. There is a variety of form factors to meet a wide range of application needs. For example, despite their unique appearance, coin vibration motors function by rotating an internal eccentric mass to create an unbalanced force. Their design gives them a low profile and a protected eccentric mass, but this also limits their amplitude of vibration. There are design trade-offs for each form factor, you can read about our most popular ones below:
Applications For ERM Pager Vibration Motors
Micro ERM motors are mainly used for vibration alarms and providing tactile feedback. Therefore, any device or system that utilizes sound or light to provide user/operator feedback can be enhanced by incorporating vibration motors.
Examples of recent projects that we’ve integrated small vibrating motors into include:
√ Pagers
√ Cell/mobile phones
√ Tablet PCs
√ E-Cigarette
√ Medical devices
√ Massage devices
√ Other personal notification devices, such as watches or wristbands
Summary
