In this project, we will show how to build a vibration motor circuit.
A vibration motor creates vibrations when provided with enough power. Essentially, it creates a shaking motion.
These motors are highly efficient at producing vibrations on various objects and have various practical applications. One of the most common uses is in mobile phones. When set to vibrate mode, vibrate to alert the user of an incoming call. Another example is the vibration packs in game controllers, which provide tactile feedback by vibrating in response to in-game actions. A famous example is the Nintendo 64, which offered vibration packs as accessories to enhance the gaming experience. A third example could be a toy such as a Furby that vibrates when you a user do actions such as rub it or squeeze it, etc.
Vibration motor circuits have a wide range of practical applications and can be utilized in a variety of ways.
Activating a vibration motor is very simple. Just apply the appropriate voltage across its two terminals. Usually, vibration motors have two wires, usually red and blue. The polarity of the connection is not important for these motors.
In this project, we will use a vibration motor from LEADER MICRO ELECTRONICS. This motor operates in the voltage range of 2.7 to 3.3 volts.
By connecting a 3-volt power supply to its terminals, the motor will effectively vibrate as shown in the following image:
This is all that is needed to make the vibration motor vibrate. The 3 volts can be provided by 2 AA batteries in series.
However, our goal is to improve the performance of the vibration motor circuit by integrating it with a microcontroller such as Arduino.
This way, we can gain more complex control over the vibration motor, allowing us to program it to vibrate at specific intervals or only activate in response to certain events.
