Leader Micro Electronics currently produces coin vibration motors, also known as shaft-less or pancake vibrator motors, generally in Ø8mm – Ø12mm diameters. Pancake motors are compact and convenient to use. They integrate into many designs because they have no external moving parts, and can be affixed in place with a strong permanent self-adhesive mounting system.
This 0820 coin vibrating motor at only 8 mm in diameter and 2.1 mm thick, which is currently the smallest coin vibration motor on the market. It is available with either an FPC or wire leads. It was designed for devices requiring vibration alerts or haptic feedback. Because it produces a relatively low vibration force of 0.4 G, this motor is best suited for use in light weight devices placed directly against the user’s skin. The motor has an operating voltage range of 2.7 to 3.3 VDC. At 3 V the motors speed is 9000 (minimum) RPM. It utilizes a flexible printed circuit (FPC) which may be hot-bar soldered directly to the PCB. It may be driven by either DC voltage or a PWM signal. A driver IC is not required but may be used to produce various haptic effects. Custom FPC’s, foam pads, or PSA are available for mass production orders.
