I. Vibration Level Concept
The vibration level of a miniature brushed vibration motor shows how strong the motor vibrates. It's measured by parameters like acceleration and displacement. Acceleration tells us how fast the vibration speed changes and displacement is the distance motor parts move from their starting positions. Together, these help us know the vibration intensity.
II. Theoretical Calculation Formula for the Vibration Level
a = m(2πn)²r / M
A. Parameter Explanation
- a: Vibration level (acceleration)
- Positive factors: m (motor centroid mass), r (centroid radius), n (speed)
- Negative factor: M (base plate mass, including motor mass)
B. Theoretical Explanation
With other things the same, a stronger vibration is felt when the motor's vibrator is heavier, the motor is larger, its voltage and speed are higher, or the whole product is lighter.
C. Practical Application
In practice, we use "G" to show acceleration multiples. It's compared to the gravitational acceleration (g = 9.8 m/s²). For example, if a vibration tester's PEAK value is 11.42, the acceleration multiple is 11.42÷9.8≈1.16G.
III. Main Factors Affecting Vibration Level Measurement
1. Influence of Fixture Weight
Fixture weight affects the measurement. A big fixture absorbs vibration energy, making the measured vibration seem less than it is. A small fixture can't hold the motor well, causing unstable measurements.
2. Influence of Sensor Installation Method
For these circular - vibrating motors, sensor position matters. Placing the motor in the fixture's center and the sensor on the side gives the highest readings. The farther the sensor is from the motor, the weaker the measured vibration.
IV. Suggestions for Motor Installation During Customer Use
1. Obtaining Maximum Vibration Output
To get the most vibration, install the motor at the product's edge, like the top or bottom. This "eccentric" setup makes the vibration stronger.
2. Reducing Vibration Intensity
To weaken the vibration, install the motor in the product's middle. Or, use PWM control or add a voltage - dividing resistor to lower the motor's voltage and speed.
